Just looking to verify what I have is correct and help out a friend. He said his was hooked up with the "Y" up at the front of the car. I told him I don't think that's right. At least not on any of them that I've seen.

On my 66 (428) I have the hose from the water pump goes around by the heater control valve to a "Y" by the hood hinge area where it splits. One goes into the heater core and the other wraps around the back of the engine through the bracket on the Carb that holds the hose against the thermostatic choke and then into the intake.

Coming out of the heater core it goes through the heater control valve to the intake. Running parallel to the one from the pump.

On my friends 66 (390) he has the heated spacer under his carb so instead of passing next to the choke thermostat his should flow through the spacer.

This would control the hot water flow thru the heater circuit and allow continuous flow to the carb.

I thought all 66 Birds had the phenolic tapered spacer under the carb. If that is the case why not use that?

That's what my 428 has but his has a 390 with the heated plate. He's under the impression that the "Y" was toward the front of the engine. Every one I've ever seen has the "Y" back by the hood hing / heater core inlets area.
That's how I'm going to plum it unless someone says differently.
