Wrong Turn Signal Switch? (pics included)

I just received a turn signal switch that I ordered in for my 64 Thunderbird... but it seems like it's missing wires. The new one is missing the red, yellow and brown wires, which go to the front left and right signals, and the brown one goes to the turn signal flasher.

Is there something I'm missing here or did I get a completely wrong part? The new part doesn't even have holes that those wires would connect into.

Where do I go from here?

found a wiring diagram for a 63 Thunderbird... looks like it matches up to the new one, problem solved ... now to sort it out with the place I bought it from!

For 1964, there were two turn signal switches; one has 7 wires, one has 10 wires. I think you can use the 7 wire switch where a 10 wire switch was located. As I recall, the extra 3 wires are for the turn signal indicators.

Two of the wires, the red and yellow ones go up to the turn signal indicators on the tops of the fenders, however, the brown one goes to the turn signal flasher. It looks like the flasher unit is different, one has just the blue wire running to it, and the other has a blue and a brown wire running to it. The person I bought it off of is able to exchange the 7 for the 10, so I might as well make it simple .

I definitely agree. You can actually use the 7-wire switch where a 10-wire switch was located. It's best to make sure the Turn Signal Switch is working to ensure safety.
