Surge Tank elimination

Hi All -
My daughter and I are building a 66 hardtop and would like to eliminate the surge tank and go to a closed coolant system with a recovery tank. Has anyone done this. Will any Ford FE thermostat housing work?

I know a lot of people have done this. I actually have an issue of street rodder that featured the FE motors as a write up and noticed many had eliminated the overflow tank. I think your best bet for a solid answer to this question is to go to another forum. I am a member of "club hot rod forums" and they have a section specific to the FE motor. I think they would be able to answer your question, its a busy site.

Thanks for the resources. It looks like the only issue would be if the filler neck on the radiator (an after market aluminum cross flow) is lower than the top of the engine which would cause a bubble. This is not my case so I guess Ill try it.
