poor defrosting

I just purchased a 1988 T-Bird Turbo Coupe and wondered if anyone has had problems with their defrosters not clearing the windshield, very well anyway. If the windshield is slightly fogged up and I turn on the heat, it begins to fog almost immediatly, then when I turn on the defroster it clears ever so slowly, but not completely. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Sounds like you have a coolant leak in the heater core-that's the usual symptom.

Thank-You, yes I was afraid you might say that. I have noticed the smell of antifreeze when it heats up, but I didnt see any coolant in the interior. Anyway, thanks again for the reply. Guess I'll be changing a heater core soon.

I would also guess you have a small HC leak. Mine had similar symtoms before I changed it.

It's always advised to shell out the extra $30 and get the Ford core. The $20 ones you get in the parts stores are regarded as very poor quality.
