Have a 65 bird which did something very unusual yesterday. The car stays in the garage most of the time but yesterday I backed it out to get to another car and noticed some tranny fluid on the floor. Looked under the car and saw it dripping so popped the hood to see where from. It looks as though pressure in the tranny had forced the dipstick up in the tube about 4-5 inches and the fluid came out the tube. I cleaned up the mess and restarted the car ran it through the gears and all was fine( I didnt go anywhere but back in the garage) My idiot thinking is there must be either a pressure valve or modulator valve that either a) was stuck, b) is getting ready to puke, or c) the car is possessed. The fluid was nice and red, smells fine not burnt and the level is just a hair low now as for what it burped out. Any thoughts, ideas, or suggestions are greatly appreciated. You can respond on here or get me directly at [email protected], I have had quite the time getting this site to load the past few days. :banghead

Sorry can't help - sounds like the 'trans-gremlins' have struck.

I have to agree with Scumdog! I couldn't tell you, but all I can say is that a month after I got my '64 i went to put it in gear, nothing happened, and discovered every drop of my tranny fluid had disappeared. I filled it, and it's stayed full for a year now ever since. Unless it happens again, I say don't ask questions!
