1966 transmission leaking from filler tube

Replaced round seal on filler tube and still leaks after shutting engine off. Fluid backs up into tube with engine off. What can I do to fix???

I'm going to speculate you nicked the seal putting the tube back in. It's supposed to back up from the torque converter draining after being shut off. Another cause could be if the support bracket is bent ant the tube flex's off to one side when tightened down. Did the tube go down fairly snug?

Tried to be careful installing the tube but..... It did go in snug but I would not call it hard to install. Seems that a simple o ring type of seal is not effective. I guess when the weather warms I'll pull it out to see if any nicks are in it. Seems a poor design.
