I've got the good manuals that you order out of the back of your owner's manual for sale if you want them. I've got powertrain, body, chassis/electrical and the engine emissions diagnosis manuals. These are the best ones you can buy. Let me know if you want them. Attached is an example of one that I have.

Chilton's manuals are always good. You can pick them up at your local auto parts store.

I did buy a Chiltons but they cover so many models that it takes some reading before you find what you need. I have the Thunderbird/Cougar 1983-1997 Repair Manual.

For example: What do you need to do to check the timing on a 88 3.8L? Can you change the idle RPM or is it controled by the computer?

I thought that the Repair manual would cover That, but I guess I have to buy a Tune-up manual as well.

You can get reprints of the original factory service manuals at a couple places listed in this post: http://natomessageboard.com/Forum1/HTML/009480.html The factory manuals are far superior to any Haynes or Chiltons
