recently had my engine and trans taken out for a new clutch, themechanic that took it out has quit and now i have a new guy putting everything back in. there is a hose coming out of the back of the intake manifold that i cant figure out what it is for, I am thinking it is something to due with the heater,(which is broken anyways and i wont be using) any one have any ideas what this hose is for?

thanks

If it's small diameter hose it's a vacuum hose for the wipers or the heater. If a large diameter hose, for the power brakes.

I think its roughly 3/4 inch hose, it is plastic. Would the power brakes be coming out of the back of the Intake Manfold?

Hose is measured inside diameter, and you are probably measuring the outside. And I've never seen a hose made of plastic. Should be fabric reinforced rubber for a pressure line, plain rubber for small vacuum lines.

3/4" is a big hose, and Ford used 5/8" for the heater. The PCV system is probably a 1/2" hose, so someone might have retrofitted that. The power brake vacuum booster line might be as large as 3/8".
