I know very little about T-birds so I found this forum to try to get some information. I found a 1965 T-bird and am interested in buying it but I don't know what it is worth or what to offer the owner. The odd thing about the car is that it has a continental kit that I cannot find anywhere on the web. The owner says that the kit is rare and factory made. The rear of the car is extended approximately 1 1/2 ft. and the spare stands up inside the trunk. The spare is accessed through a rounded lockable lid on top of the rear of the car. It is hard to explain but it is not the kit that mounts to the rear bumper. Also the car has no rust holes and 28,000 miles. It needs a paint job badly and a good cleaning. The 390 runs and the car drives. As I said I don't know much of anything about t-birds or fords for that matter but I liked the car and want it in my garage. Thanks for your help it will be appreciated.

Hard to say what it does to the value of the car.. If the buyer likes this particular continental kit, I guess it would enhanse it's value. If your buyer would prefer an original vehicle, it would hurt the value. Guess I'd have to see it..

The connie kit should add value if it is well done and functional. Currently, there is only one manufacturer still producing these, which run about $1200 plus paint and installation. I will make the car perform more poorly, as it changes weight ratio and drag. However, theese Birds are not known for performance anyhow. I would go for it. It will distinguish yours from the rest. Good luck. I have owned many of these, so please ask if you need more help.

Depends what you intend to do with the car, cruise nights? Driver?

Are you going to show it in competition? If so you now have a "modified car" that will more often than not have to compete with other modified cars.

Even at a T-Bird show, participants don't like competing against a modified car with their "stock" restoration.

Other than that, if done well it sounds unique!
