I am in the process of trying to get the front bumper off my 65 so I can have it rechromed. I was able to get 6 of the eight bolts off by removing the headlight housing but the last 2 are hard to reach as they are just in front of the wheel well and don't have enough space to be turned by a wrench. Anyone been through this? How did you solve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im sorry not have been through this, but where are you getting your bumper rechromed, i need mine done alos. any help would be great. thank you.

I found a place to rechrome the bumper locally in Detroit but the cost is pretty high......minimum of $500....since the bumper is one piece and rather large. I saw that the Birdnest in Portland has rechromed bumpers for sale at about the same cost so I may contact them and check it out. If anyone knows where to buy one I'd rather do that than go through the hassle of taking it someplace to be done.

Bumper Boyz is based out of Los Angeles and they show up coast to coast at all the big auto shows. They'll be at Auburn on Labor Day weekend for example and they'll have hundreds of re-chromed bumpers on hand ready to buy. I've heard complaints about their quality however and for my money I'd choose a local chrome shop that offers a warranty. Your local Harley dealer can put you in touch with a good chrome shop.....or try the yellow pages. In my town, we've got 8-9 to choose from.
