Exhaust Resonator

Has anyone here removed the exhaust resonator? The studs that hold mine on are rusting away...I have already replaced one of them with a makeshift nut/bolt assembly I had laying around. Just wondering if it'll make the car much louder...I would like to try to avoid a lot of interior resonance. Thanks for any reply.

Just to let everyone know...I removed the exhaust resonator and welded a piece of pipe in it's place. There was almost no difference in the sound, with the exception of an increase in that "glug-glug" V8 exhaust sound and a slightly deeper note at idle. On that note, if it's not falling off, don't take it off. It's a straight-through assembly, so there will be no increase in HP's or torque.
