I have a '64 Flair Bird mostly original, Wimbledon white with black, all original interior, with under 75k miles on it. It has had some body work and has been repainted. The engine and trans have both been rebuilt. It is my daily driver (about 25 miles round trip - almost all at highway speed). I drive with a pretty light foot and I get just under 11 mpg. I really want to stay as original as possible but the fuel costs are killing me.

I am considering EFI/TBI conversion. Has anyone got any personal experience with such a conversion? I would appreciate hearing about your experience. What was the work like? How much did it cost? Where did you get the conversion kit? Most importantly, what difference did it make in your mpg (before and after?)

Thanks for your feedback!

If you are getting 11, that is pretty good. Don't know how much more you can coax out of an engine that big, old and with the heavy car around it. I get less than 9 when I check and that is mainly around town. I like to speed when I can, car loves to run.
