Hi all

I have a 63 Landua, the drivers side key lock turns but does not operate the lock mech on the door (does not lock). You can manually lock the door from the inside and unlock this via the door handle. I need to know how to get the door handle off the door so i can access the inside of the door panel?? Thanks

There is a neat little tool that is sold by all Ford venders. It will grab the spring clip and push it out so you can pull the handles off. Push in on the door panel and look real careful you might see the clip. They are a pain but do the job.

I tried the tool that Ford Blue Blood refers to. I still found it difficult to get the clip to come off and ended up scratching my aluminum somewhat. (probably my lack of abililty more than anything)

A mechanic then showed me a little trick that worked great. Get some very stiff wire (fencing wire) and bend a tight little U on one end. Come at the handle from the opposite end from where you grab to open the door. Thread the wire under it so that the U grabs the end of the spring clip and pull it out.

I had similar problems with my door lock on the drivers side. I thought the lock was broken because it turned so freely. When I got around to looking at the problem I found two clips laying inside the bottom of the door. These clips held the various connecting rods tight and eliminated some of the "slop". Once I put these clips back where they belonged the locked worked again.

Now the only problem I seem to have is that when I try to lock the door from the outside, the vacuum system that works the power locks wants to push the lock up again. This doesn't happen when I lock it from the inside. I will work on this problem next.
