I recently got my 64 Hardtop and am slowly getting it back to shape (replacement carb spacer, new steering column rag joint & bush, washers and air vents working, etc). Thanks to Thunderbird Connection here in Phoenix and to Thunderbird Headquarters. And I got the Door Ajar warning working - well, one side - by fitting a new bulb. Now the driver's door turns the warning light on but the passenger door doesn't. It's not the courtesy light switch that activates it - it comes on before the lights do - so what in the door(?) activates Door Ajar?

a switch is located on the back of inner door lock. Kinda a cam that opens when door is shut and closed when door is not completely closed. This makes a connection when door is not closed. Maybe broken wire or switch broken or dirty. Anyway door panel has to come off to access. Follow wire to switch and dissconect see if light goes off, if not it is grounded somewhere. That is how it works is by grounding.

Thanks, buster53. The passenger side actually worked the light last night once when the door was opened - so it's possibly just a bad contact in the lock. Or bad earth - both window motors are getting reluctant unless the switch panel is pounded. Time to get those door panels off but not just now as the Windstar has gone shaky and the Tbird is the only transport for now.

try some silicone spray on window channels, sometimes they need a little slickum to work properly. I had to replace both window motors in mine, a little tight at frist. Then I used a little silicone spray on channels and got them working.
