The padded dash in my 65 Tbird is cracked in two places running from the defrost vent towards the cabin. I was curious if it is possible to have one of these refurbished to look stock or if the only option was to replace it with a decent used one. Do any of the aftermarket companies sell new replacements?

I know that just about anything can be fixed but I'd like it to look stock.

Thoughts?

This is what I found in searching this site "dash repair":

Here are a couple of ideas someone on one of the Mustang Forums through out for dash repair:

Just Dashes

and an eBay auction:
Dash pad from eBay

The Just Dashes place looks like a good way to get it restored, though I'm sure it's expensive. If I go this route, I'll send them my old dash when I'm having the car painted.

A friend of mine put a "dash cap" on his 1965 Thunderbird and was quite satisfied with it. It was necessary to trim the ends of the dash cap to suit him. He got the dash cap from Stock Interiors (stockinteriors.com) 866-868-4577 Harley

My dash was also cracked in two places and gapped. I used gorilla glue that expands. My dash was raised up where the cracks were. I had to use some clamps and a way to pulldown on that area. Used wax paper and masking tape to control the glue. Used some bondo to finish up. and painted with vinyl paint from Birds Nest t-bird parts. Saved me from buying a new one. And it looks pretty good.:angel

Jerry, do you have pics of the results? I'd love to see how that turned out.

And, would you mind expanding on how you used

. I've got the same cracks in my dash (must have been an option for flair birds! ha-ha)

Thanks
