I have a damaged power steering control valve on my 57 bird.
The sleeve that the drag link theads into was damaged. I have a new innner sleeve along with a ball stud and hardware.
I have two questions.
First. How critical are the toleraces for the outer sleeve?
Second. Can I SAFELY remachine the outer sleeve where the ball-stud deeply marked the slot it goes through?
Thank you

Tom,

Sorry, my experience with power steering repairs has not caused me to have the"in depth" experience required to answer your question. Apparently it's beyond the experience level of other members on this board.

Since no one can help you salvage what you have; I suggest you contact Thunderbird Center in Michigan. They advertise rebuilt power steering components that are available on an exchange basis, outright purchase, or they'll rebuild your items. This may be the most effective way to get the job done. Their number is: (800) 562-1955.

Good Luck, Tom
