I recently read Avery confusing sales ad for a 1957 bird on autotrader. The ad claimed that it was an original supercharged 312 engine but the serial # is D7FH128562. According to all the info I can obtain, a D code is a 312 with a single 4 barrel carb. Can anyone comment on this discrepancy? Thanks

The very early Birds that had a supercharger were D coded (called DF Birds)
If that is what it is it's a very valuable car.

Otherwise, it could just be a D Bird with a supercharger added later in life.

Thank you Paul for that info. Is there any way to figure if this one could be an early DF?

There are two men that should know. They are authenticity chairman for CTCI. They will need to know the VIN and other info on the data plate. The D/F Birds were built early in the 57 production year. I don't know the cutoff when they went to "F". If you have a late built car, it is not a D/F bird.
