Brakes

My '64 tbird is still having the problem with the brakes. I have replaced the valve on top of the vacuum booster, replaced the vacuum lines and I have good brakes when going down the road. If I come to a light and let the engine idle down and press the brake pedal it will be hard as if I have no vacuum. As soon as I speed up the engine I suddenly have brakes. Any suggestions as to what to check would be appreciated.

I would suspect your power booster is acting up . Make sure you are not losing vacumn from anywhere else thou ?

Replace the check valve.
