The power windows do not work on my 66. I have checked all the fuses and they are all good. before I tear into this is ther possibly another hidden relay or fuse buss somewhere elase that I am missing ?

Are you getting power to the switches? Dont know on a 66 but 65 has a relay for the windows mounted on the firewall just to the rt of center. Do you know you have good motors? If you here them spin but get no movement the gears are bad. I would start checking power to the switches first though.

yes... Dan is right about the power window safety relay... It's mounted on the firewall behind the engine and it sounds like that's where your problem is. This relay can be by-passed. It prevents the operation of the windows if the ignition is not turned on.
By-passing the relay involves supplying battery power to the window switches at the relay.

I think I found the relay. Two red wires and one black. One of the red wires is hot. How do I bypass this relay ? It is mounted on the firewall near the top. Hope this is what I am supposed to be looking for.
I did run power directly to the motors and they all work, but can't seem to find power going to the switches.

To bypass the relay, connect the wire from the battery to the wire going to the power window switches. The battery wire is the one with the screw. I THINK the wire to the switches is the one one driver's side of the relay.

So when I turn the key forward the wire on the drivers side should be the one that is hot correct ?

I think I somehow got lost. "turn the key forward" means what? If you bypass the relay, the windows will work without the ignition turned ON ! IF the relay works OK, and the fuse is good, then-- the wire on the driver's side of the relay should be hot and supply power to the window switches..

Thank you very much
