Recently purchased a 56 bird, jack is laying in the trunk, so far all the literature I have doesn't show any pictures. Mac's has a strap in their catalog, but I'm not sure if that's all I need. Does anyone have any info or a place I can find some? Thanks, Bill

The 55 and 56 jack assembly mounts in the trunk on the driver's side, the 57 on the passenger side in the same manner. The base of the jack assembly has an oblong slot cut into it. This slot in the base fits over the metal tab that sticks out of the floor between the tail light and the rear wheel well. Slide the base over the tab so that it sits flat on the floor of the trunk, such that the largest bulk of the base is between the tab and the tail light. Now take the shaft of the jack and lay its one end onto the opening of the base (where the shaft would normally be seated when being used to jack the car) but don't put it into the base opening, but rather on top of it. Clip the other end of the shaft into the holder that is welded to the back of the rear wheel well. Be sure that the shaft is laying sideways, such that the lifting tongue (the part that goes under the bumper of the car) points to the quarter panel and the mechanism lever that changes the direction of the jack's action from down to up, points to the centre of the trunk. You should have a rubber loop strap that has a flat metal hook on one end. The hook slides into a slot at the end of that metal tab that the jack base is secured to. Then the rubber loop is fitted over the lifting tongue of the jack assembly. Finally move the jack direction lever to its lifting position and pump the lifting mechanism so that the entire assembly rides up the jack shaft and tightens the rubber loop, effectively fastening the whole assembly to the trunk floor. If you can't figure out my directions from this description leave your email address and I'll email you a picture from the trunk sticker that explains the process. Good Luck!
