Ok so my trunk right now has no key and I have to hit the sweet spot to open it! I also have to go to sleep worrying about someone takeing all my stuff out. If anyone can help me with the install of my lock housing and lock cylinder it would be greatly appreciated. I have all the parts but no clue as to how it actually goes in. I do have the full shop manual and looked through it. I didnt find much on how to install it.

Pictures of an existing installed lock system or maybe someone that could take step by step photos if you have experience and your willong to.

Thank you,
JAE

Trunk Lock

Took me a while to figure out how the trunk lock went back together also. The books don't show it very well then add the vacuum opener. I'll try and get a few photos of it this weekend and post them for you or shoot me an e-mail ([email protected]) and I'll send them to you.

I'll still post them. maybe they will help someone else.

A couple of Photos of the trunk lock linkage

hope this helps.

I got bud. Thank u alot. It works but unfortunately i cant get the cover to work because the spring is crazy and the bar just pops out because of poor manufactureing. But hey atleast it keeps people out
Thank you again

Glad it works.

I've lost the spring on mine. I've seen in one of the restoration parts books, can't remeber which at the moment, that they sell the lock cover assembly with the spring. Mine works fine without the spring and I just took some JB and fixed the bar in place for now. I might replace it next time I paint it.

Noooooo.. You'd better double check yours

I guess that when I pulled the latch to take the photos I knocked the clip that holds the linkage bar to the lock lever loose. My wife went to the store and when she got home the trunk wouldn't open. The linkage had fallen out. Only thing I could do was drill it out. Ouch.

So be sure to double check that clip.

Glove box handle trunk opener

Unfortunately the vacuum unit pulls on the same piece that the key turns. That was my first thought too. The piece that came off was the little bar that comes off the lock cylinder arm to the latch. There is a clip that holds the bar to the lock arm. the same kind of clip found in the door latch/lock linkage and some carberator linkage.

No worries $hit happens

When I put the latch back on I must have caused it to come loose. It's on in the photos LOL. My wife didn't like the cover anyway it had fallen off because the hing pin was rusted and the spring was gone so I ordered a whole new lock assembly.

I've gotten a lot of help from this site. Glad I could help someone else.

The good from this

My wife likes the new lock assembly much better. The cover on the old one had fallen off, the spring was missing, and no where near as "new" looking on the new paint job. Ordered it online from Bird Nest, had it the same week, going to put it on this wekend. Best part is the wife is happy.
