Wondering if anyone has seen, tried or successfully put in a 5 speed manual transmission in a 1964 Thunderbird? I can get a bellhousing adapter from Mc Leod Racing, so I can adapt the 390 to T5 trans. I am not interested in making my Bird a drag racer by any means, just want something a little more fun and different.

Thanks for any input or advice.

I have never seen a manual bird after 1960. You still see a manual 58 thru 60 on ebay. I read a article a long time ago in one of the car mags that Ford had built a 64 T-Bird with a 427 four-speed for John Holmon of Holmon/Moody fame and that his son still owns the car, but that is just a rumor, I have no first hand info at all. But that would be an great car.

Thanks for the reply. I thought for sure some one would have done it or at least attempted it. I need to get some more measurements and double check things, but I think I may give it a go. I think it would be a lot of fun and something totally different. Hopefully some one will respond that has any suggestions on how to do it.
