I have a 73 T-bird, have had a 76 T-Bird. I know these birds have an option for a power sunroof. that is why I am asking this question here......... I also have a 77 continental Mark V with a power sun roof. I am getting no power to the sun roof switch. Can someone tell me where there would be...

    Potential 66 428 buyer

Just a personal observation. Never buy a car as an investment, unless you can also absorb a loss. While some cars are almost guaranteed to turn a profit, I personally think the value of these Flairbirds is not as high as you may think, and I have seen some for sale that remain unsold. Buy a car...

    Help me identify odd option

Depends what you intend to do with the car, cruise nights? Driver? Are you going to show it in competition? If so you now have a "modified car" that will more often than not have to compete with other modified cars. Even at a T-Bird show, participants don't like competing against a modified...

    what's it worth?

Some people restore what I call "push-mobiles" basically a car that is mostly pushed or occasionally driven onto a trailer. Some of these people will pay big bucks for an original tire. You just have to find the right person. Look on e-bay for auctions on tires like these. swi6

428 sitting for 15 years how to get it started?

I bought a 66 Bird, 390 that had been rebuilt, but left sitting for quite some time. My cousin drove it for a few thousand miles and sold it to me. I drove it for a month and the cam and lifters went bad. Either no assembley lube was used, or cam not broken in properly, or all lube ran off the...

    Dash Pad Repair

Just an opinion, but a "cap" would just not look right due to the design. It is a major project to change, so may as well do it right. Have seen a few good used ones sell on e-bay, even if you have to dye them, could be a considerable savings over a re-cover professionally done. swi66

Dash Placque for '65 Special Landau

No his was not a Special Landau, but still had his name engraved on a plaque above the radio. Has a bird emblem on it as well.

Dash Placque for '65 Special Landau

I beleive it goes an inch or so above the radio on the brushed aluminum panel. At least that is where the one was on my grandfathers 64. Of course that may be a dealer installed item so it could have gone just about anywhere. swi66

    66 390 Price

390 motor First you should tell where you are located........... The motor is actually worth more if it can be heard running and moving, so you may want to advertise it before you pull it out. The transmission could be either a cruise 0 matic or a C-6. Personally I think the C-6 is more...

    1966 Front End Kit /leaf springs ?

Mac's Antique auto in Lockport most likely has mosdt of that. When I did a Dodge, I got a front suspension kit from a place called "Just Suspension". Last leaf springs I had made from a local place which specializes in springs, Buffalo spring" in Buffalo NY. I am sure you have someone like that...

Why do 66 down birds hate 67 birds

67 birds.......... I currently own a 64, 66, and 73................. Many years ago I was told the Buffalo Thunderbird Club did not allow owners of cars "newer" than 66...........that has since changed as a good portion of the club now owns the newer models. My family at one time had a 68 with...

    1966 Town Landau

Just recently bought a 66 Town Landau, nice driver with mint interior. Cruise, poser windows and door locks. Transmission issues, but still goes down the road great. Supposedly a rebuilt motor, runs real good. Gave $4000 for it, and the receipts to back paying that price for it. Also got a...

    1964 Bird

Around 1990, I had a chance to replace my long parked rusty 64 with a "better" one. The car was inside a building which had only a man sized door. It had been parked inside by removing then replacing a wall! Had to take the wall down to get it out. $1500 but it had a semi fresh quickie paint...

    1973 Thunderbird

In 1978 my grandfather wanted to trade in his 73 Bird on a new Corvette. The chevy dealer basically low balled him on the trade in of a 5 year old Bird in mint shape with 17,000 miles. They offered him $1000 trade in. I was standing right there, 22 years old, and he told them to go screw...

    Cruise Control

I just purchased a 66 with the Cruise control. Over the years a few pieces have become missing..........for the time being I am going to let it be, but eventually I think I will try my luck at it..........other items are more on my "to do" list. A friend of mine has a 64 with the Cruise, his...

    64-66 Transmission questions

Last night I was driving my 64 Bird into a cruise night, and smoke started billowing out of the tail pipes. A fellow cruiser diagnosed the problem as the modulator going bad which sucked tranny fluid into the motor. I disconnected the vacuum line so I could drive it home. Is this something...

    Vanity Plate?

Many years ago, in the 70's my mother got a license plate issued which was GS-747 and had it on her 68 Bird, later I was able to get it transferred to my 73 Bird. As it turns out my mothers name was Gloria, and mine is Gary and our last name starts with an "s" so it was to us 'personalized...
