    Tail Lights

Joe, As are many other Bird owners, I am indebted to you. Sure enough I went out to the car, checked the two grounds in the rear trunk, but they seemed fine. But then I noticed in the wiring harness behind the deck lift cylinder, there were 4 black wires joined together, which I am assuming...

    Tail Lights

Joe, Yes, turn signals, stop lights, and 4 ways work. I will check the grounds. Thanks.

    Tail Lights

Ok, I replaced the headlight switch today, and I now have one working parking light-passenger side. Still no tail lights, liscense plate, or drivers side parking. I have checked everything - the bulbs, the power at the headlight switch, the circuits, and traced the wiring. I don't see...

    Tail Lights

Joe, thanks for the input. Do you mean there is a separate circuit from the switch to the tail lights? Or is it in the headlight switch? If separate, where is it to check? Ken

    Convertible Top Prob

I recently replaced almost all parts to operate the top (solenoids, hoses, upper back panel limit switch, 4 new relays, limit switches, and all 4 cylinders.) It has been working great until last night. When I hit the top up switch, I can hear a click, but the trunk will not open. I unscrewed...

    Tail Lights

When the headlights are on on my 66', the taillights, liscense plate, and parking lights do not light. I read there is a circuit in the headlight switch which is probably the cause. Can this be fixed, or does the whole switch need to be replaced? Thanks for any input!

    Power Windows

The rear power windows on my 66' go up extremely slow, and or stop. If I guide them up by pulling them along, they make it up. The front passenger will not go up by itself. It seems to be a little off balance, and will also go up only if I help it. The drivers side works normally. Before I...

    More Shift Lever Probs.

Joe, Thanks for the input. I changed the shift lever yesterday, and sure enough, there was a notch in the lever where it slides over the indent plate. With an adjustment of the neutral start switch, it's now like brand new. No more jumping out of park or holding the lever in various positions...

    Over heating

If you are still having problems with overheating, try a new radiator cap. It is a cheap simple fix. I thought my 66' was overheating. Everytime I drove it radiator fluid would pour out the overflow tube. I tried a new cap from Murrays. Still didn't work. Talked to the guy who rebuilt my...

    gasoline for 66 tbird 390

Has your engine ever been rebuilt? I had my 66' 390 rebuilt 2 years ago by a guy that has been rebuilding for over 20 years. His opinion is if you don't use the substitute on originals, it will eventually burn out the exhaust rings. Almost all rebuilds correct the problem so you can use...

    More Shift Lever Probs.

Like many others, my 66' slips out of park into reverse. I have to hold up on the lever to start the car, and when that doesn't work, place it in neutral, lift slightly, and then it will start. I have already replaced the neutral safety switch. I purchased a new shift detent plate, but can...
