thunderbird soft top getting dirty

my friend asked my to post a question regarding the soft top on his car. he has a 2005 thunderbird it has a light grey top and it always gets black grease or dirt marks and stripes on the top. when you put it down, does any one else have this issue? is there a fix for it. possibly grease on the metal bars for the top?

any suggestions on cleaning or preventing this would be helpful. thank you.

canvas top grease

I have the same problem…regular car wash didn't take it out. My top is blue. Was wondering too wear this is coming from or how to clean. thanks.
