Has anyone replaced the temperature gauge without removing the whole front panel? The manual says it can be done by just removing the temp guage lens. I found that difficult because of difficulty of reconnection to the wire leads.

I replaced mine by drumming the gauge pod down onto the steering column (make sure you protect the column from scratches), You need the steering wheel off and the clock pod to get into the back to loosen the wire retainers.
Awkward, but not too difficult.

If I remember correctly, there are 3 loop type retainers attached to the back of the gauge assembly that you have to undo to get enough wire slack to work on the back of the gauges. There is also a sleeve type retainer attached with two nuts the goes across the bottom of the clock pod opening. I think I had to take the nuts off so it was free to move a bit.
It sounds a bit complicated, but really isn't too difficult to do.
Hope this helps

Thats what the problem I had was.....not enough slack in the wires to make the connection to the new gauge. I Thanks again
