Hey everyone, I just bought a 66 convertible with a 428 and want to find out more about the history of this bird. If anyone could help me with some info. on how to find out what my VIN number means in detail, I would very much appreciate it. If anyone knows how rare the convertible with 428's are, please let me know. The car is in good condition and needs some body work from rust on the lower body. The engine has 85,000 original miles and runs great. The interior is in OK condition but all gauges work and it has factory A/C. The seller informed me that this is one of few 428 convertibles left. Could anyone give me an estimate of how much this car would go for as it is and an estimate on how much it would cost to restore the interior and the body work. Also if anyone knows how much this car would go for fully restored, I would very much appreciate it. This is a lot to ask for but I know there's gotta be someone out there that can help.

THaNX,
Michael Allen

Here's a partial answer-I'll try to find out more for you.

5,049 Convertibles were built for that year-approximately 20% had the Q-code 428 option, which means about 1000 Convertibles were built with the 428. When you figure that just over 69000 birds were built that year, about 2-3% were Q-code equipped, making your baby very rare indeed.

Hope that helped you out!!
