I went to a junkyard and picked up a stock AM/FM Stereo for my Uncle's 78 T-bird. Based on the part number this unit came out of a 1980 Ford product, the yard assumed it was out of a T-bird but wasn't sure.

Bringing the new unit home, it was very similar but not identical to the hacked up unit that was in the trunk of his car. But I think the 1980 unit will will work fine.

The '80 unit has its original five plug harness. I've deduced that the black wire is the common ground, and the remaining Pink/blue, Orange, White/Green and Pink/green wires go to each of the four speakers.

The original speaker wiring in the car is long gone. I am installing new speakers but want to keep the look of the stock dash. Can someone tell me which speaker each of the four remaining speaker wires goes to?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

problem solved.

I found and old haynes manual with a wiring diagram. Orange/Green= front Left. White/Green =front right.

The other two go to the rear speakers. The whole system is a "common ground" style.
