I took my squential unit out and oiled it as explained in another post...Purs and clicks like a kitten! The only problem is the lights realy dont come on one at a time rather just get brighter.....my 4ways dont work so I assume the relay behind the glovebox is the culprit. also the blinkers come on without the key and the indash indicator stays on and only gets brighter with each click of the trunk unit. My two 1970s had a typical flasher under the dash but i know they are a diferent set up. If there is a round flasher unit then my cd-rom shop manual peice of crap fails to mention it.

In my 69, I had a wire short to the metal and I kept hearing the clinking of the flasher relay. I held my head at the glove box and it was from there, I felt underneat, right at the back of the glove box and the "round" flasher relay was clickin.. It is held there by a half round clamp, just pull it out.. The toughest part was disconnecting it.. I removed the wire that was shorting out and it worked ok... ( the short was my fault) PS i have a parts car it might have a spare "round".. Ide be glad to GIVE it to you...FREE

I took off the glovebox and only found a square relay that clicks once when I push in the 4way button.
I find no place where the round one would go!
Cant find it in my wiring CD. Im not sure when Birds went to solid state sequential unit but both my 70s had it and the flasher under the glove box actually FIRED the unit. The 68 has the original mechanical unit in the rear fender.

Hi Alan! In my '67 there is a redundant system with a flasher under the dash that doesn't affect the operation of the flashers (weird) it clicks sometimes when the signals are activated, but when it stops the sequential units AND the front blinkers keep going as normal. I don't know exactly where it is, but I can hear it... it's not on the fuse block like normal cars. Something you might want to check is the turn signal switch...if it has a short the signals will have power with the key off.
Good luck!
