Replacing Front Parking Brake Cable

I've come to the sad conclusion that my front parking brake cable can't be adjusted (thanks, corrosion) and must be replaced. I've replaced nearly every other part of my rear brake system with relative ease (including both rear cables), but this looks like a royal pain in the butt. The shop manual is sparse on details.

What will this operation really involve? Will I need to remove a bunch of panels, carpet, etc.? Oh, and where does the cable go through the floor? it's not immediately obvious to me.

I'm interested to see what the others say here because this is a chore that is on my to do list too! A previous owner diconnected the emergency brake some years ago so I'm not even sure what it is supposed to look like. Right now it just looks like a mess.

It was a royal pain. I had to take all the trim off, remove the e-brake pedal, and remove the driver's side seat just so I could have room to work. Putting it all back together was just as big a pain. Finally, when I got it all buttoned up, the e-brake still didn't work the way it should (even though the cables were all doing exactly what they should).

Frustrating! My only tip is to be very patient and expect to fumble around quite a bit.
