The 57 is comming along well, frame is finished with fatman sub frame and 5.0 engine mounts installed and it along with all front end parts and rear axle housing ar now powdercoated, front end is installed and I'll start reassembling the rear end shortly,center section is painted correctly with red oxide and brake backing plates and drums are powdercoated.

Hi, can you tell me where you found the red oxide paint? I'm also restoring a rear suspension on a '57. Thanks

autozone believe it or not, I also sprayed it with krylon clear to protect it and it looks pretty good, the two machined spots on the bottom that are supposed to be bare metal I wire brushed with a small drill mounted wire brush before I sprayed the clear so they should not rust.

Thanks, that sounds good enough for me. Did you happen to find a good source for replacement drums. The best price I can find through the T-bird shops is $85.00/each. Kanter is $100.00/each. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I got lucky, my drums were freshly turned and less than 50 thousands over so I can use them.
