Hi:
My grandfather just passed away and left me his 61 hardtop T-Bird, which I treasured as a youngster. The problem is, I live in Louisville, Ky., and the car is in Modesto, Calif. Anyone have suggestions on the best way to get it fixed out there dependably or shipped back as cheaply and safely as possible?

First, I am sorry to hear about the passing of your gandfather. Now here are a couple options, for your newly aquired car
1.have the car sent by a shipping company, they will pick the car up from its current location and ship it to your doorstep. From CA to KY it would cost about 700 to 800 dollars
2.Fly here, take the car to a michanic spend the money for them to get it fixed and then drve the car home yourself. It would be a great drive in a really awsome car, but it might cost a lot to get the car to the point to drive it half way across the country.
3.You could sell the car as is/where is and i am sure that someone (OOH, Like me) would probably buy it, for the right price.

take care

4. you could fly/drive/rail/bus out, and tow it yourself. You need like an F350 and HD car hauler. '61 weighs about 4K Lbs. (Ford Explorer weight range). Allsaidanddone, probably be about the same price as having it shipped out professionally, but more scenic for you.
