I need to adjust or replace the neutral safety switch on my 65....hopefully adjust. Has anyone done this and what is the procedure? I'm told an adjustment will cure the sloppy gear shift lever. I also am trying to replace the shift lever but can't get the pin to come out....it's out about 3/8" but won't budge anymore. HELP!!!!

umm, i did that over a year ago to mine, cant remember that much about it now but i had to put a new bush on the collumn cos it was really sloppy (and i just cut the rubber bush and slipped over rather than taking the collumn out)... Then if i remember correctly there is a little lever which is connected to the collumn shifter underneath the dash. U just gotta tighten the lever in the position where it hits the switch when its in park.

Two screws hold the neutral switch to the steering column jacket. Loosen the srews, move the switch and try the "start" again. It's trial and error. The roll pin holding the lever in can be stubborn. Get a bigger hammer. The neutral switch is located on top of the steering column under the dash, near the firewall. [email protected]
