Have made tremendous progress in the last week on all my vacuum systems. Parking brake, door locks, rear vent, trunk release and all AC and heating doors opening as designed. Next step is to tackle AC system which is not working.
Have paperwork from 2 owners ago dated 8/22/84 where he went to a Lincoln Mercury dealer for servicing AC. They bled system and recharged it but noted that the "ER Valve" needed to be replaced. Shortly after that he sold the car to the person I bought it from. Last owner said AC was not working when he bought it as it needed a valve under dash.
I'm guessing that ER is short for expansion valve or maybe Lincoln lingo. If if is then I saw a post from Harley several years back that said he replaced an expansion valve without pulling entire dash out. He referenced removing "lower LH dash panel". Not sure which panel this is. I have the console panels off as I removed radio/8-track today (it's going out for refurb/conversion) and not sure if the LH panel is this one or another. Would appreciate clarification as well as any other suggestions regarding removal of expansion value.
