Anyone know how to remove the heater control unit from a 55 T-Bird? I need to replace the chrome faceplate.

vintagestg,

As I recall (its been a lot of years) there are two nuts on the back of the control that need to be removed, by reaching up behind the dash. You'll have to stand on your head to get to them to see what you're doing. It will be a lot simpler if you remove the seat from the car, but that hardly makes sense for 2 nuts, but suit yourself.

After that the unit pulls out from the dash with its cables attached. Undo the various cable secures and remove them, after you identify the location of each one on the control unit with lettered masking tape or same.

Its all pretty simple but awkward. Good Luck!
