Hello,
me and a freind have a 1985 Ford thunderbird for use as a "stereo Car".
We have had the car for 2 years now. first of all, the entire interior was stripped, including wiring. bad idea. we managed to rewire the ignition and a few other necessity's, but nothing more. the car ran good for a while.
the car has been in my freinds posession for the last year. he said he started it up just fine this summer.
we went to go start it yesterday and nothing. the motor just keeps turning and turning. we checked spark. OK.... we pulled off the fuel line. yuck. a bunch of **** flew out. we contunued until the gas that was coming out was good. we also added 5 gallons of fresh gas.
so, fuel is reaching the injectors, there is spark, but not even a chug. spraying starting fluid directly into the air intake make it chug and almost start! but once used up, the car died.
so the question is, could the injectors be clogged that much ? is there a filter in them? if so, how can we clean them?
they look pretty black. mind you this is a TBI car with 2 injectors up top.
also, where is the fuel pump located? and what is the required fuel pressure for this system? we are thinking of dropping the tank and running new lines, and using a brand new fuel cell. the car isnt road legal, and wont ever be. the only thing it needs to do is get on and off a trailer, and into the competitions we take it to.
thanks,
Greg Piper
