The front windshield moldings on my 57 are pitted. Are these polished stainless or chrome metal? Dose anybody know where to get replacement moldings? I've searched all my parts books and came up with nothing. If they're not avaiable can they be refinished and where would be a good place to have it done? Thanks Lex

lex446,

The long section windshield moldings, inside the car and outside the car, are stainless steel, as are the clip sections that cover the spaces between sections of molding. These can simply be polished up on a wheel polisher with the proper compounds.

The corner moldings that go from the bottom to the top at the sides of the windshield are chromed steel. Your best bet is to have yours rechromed, for as to my knowledge, no one makes reproductions. I've never seen any in any of the catalogues I've ever used for small bird parts.

As to where to get them chromed, you should search online or in Hemmings Magazine for someone near to you in your state or province. You might try the antique car guys in your area. Someone will be able to recommend a shop. Good Luck!

TriCity plating in Elizabethon, TN plated my side pieces and polished the stainless pieces. Excellent job!
