My high school kid has a '95 T-Bird. Neither of us are mechanics.

Has a hole in driver side cat. converter, and the muffler area is starting to go as well. Got quotes for around $1100.00 to do the whole thing...I only paid $1500.00 for the car! I was looking online, and the parts total around $675 - $700.00.

I live in Wisconsin, and we have to do emmissions testing, but because of the age of his car, he DOES NOT need to be tested.

Is there a place I can get the front part of the exhaust WITHOUT the cat. converters, to save a few bucks? I know it's not legal, but who cares. Or if I wanted this, would this have to be a custom build?

I'm open to any ideas.

Thanks,

So, does it have holes on the exhaust tubing or is it on the muffler and cat itself?

Have you tried going to a muffler shop and just have them get you a new muffler and cat? Just have them remove the old one and put on a new one. i'd suggest getting a magnaflow or flowmaster muffler and cat.
