door weatherstripping for 66

Is there anyone familiar with the different qualities of repro weather stripping that is currently available for the doors and roof rail of a 66 Bird? I am getting different stories from different venders. Evediently there are mainly two different versions out there...a firm version and a softer version.

Does anyone have any experiance with these?...which type is best?

I would like to know where you found the weatherstripping. I need replacements as well for my 65. Thanks

I hear that the softer weatherstrip is preffered, but eother way - the weatherstrip is EXPENSIVE. I have been dealing with Pat Wilson at www.wilsontbird.com - I am finishing up my 65 convertible and will be weatherstripping the whole trunk are which cost about $500 for concours quality grade - but after talking to several reasonable tbird vendors - they suggested that I just get basic stripping at auto zone or another parts store as I do not have a concourse quality car. They said the intent of the weather stripping is to keep the trunk dry and not really for the proper look (unless concourse is desired). Best of luck to you

Generally speaking; if the softer weatherstripping is any where near the right size and shape, it is your best choice. Hard rubber can cause more problems than any one should have to deal with.

I got some roof rail out of LA and it looked like spaghetti! I promptly sent it back and they sent me some of better quality---so there is a difference.I have a 66 Landau.

64 T-Bird

New to Thunderbirds, bought a 64 recently, had the door alignment problem at the quarter panel. Removed the weatherstrip from the passenger door, now it closes and looks perfect. Any recommendations for the best replacement weatherstrip?

Purchased new door weatherstrip from Larry's Thunderbird. Installed this morning. Perfect fit, no more problems with the door alignment!
