Bullet Bird brake problem

Just bought a 63 T-Bird but having brake problems. Brakes work fine when I start to drive but after about 5 miles, the back brakes start to squeak. After 10 miles, the rear brakes are binding. I can feel the drag and smell a 'brakes burning' smell. The rear wheels are hot but not the fronts.

After parking the car for about 30 minutes, the brakes are back to normal. Until I have driven a few miles!

Anybody got any ideas?

My guess is the parking brake is dragging and needs to be adjusted.

I downloaded a workshop manual for the T-Bird. Once I can get it opened I willread up on how to do it,

You could jack up the car, getting the rear wheel off the floor and see if the brakes are dragging...

I meant I would read the manual before jacking the car up and work out all the possibilities. My reply sounded silly, like I needed a manual to work out how to jack-up the car! My guess is that the parking cable is rusted up or the mechanicals inside the drums. Or maybe weak return springs. Anyway will soon find out. Thanks for the advice.
