67 Carburetor Spacer

I have torn down the top part of my FE 390 on my 67 hardtop to fix a few things - leaky valve covers, bad carburetor performance.

I noticed the carb spacer says 'Mr Gasket' on it and just has one great big hole in the middle! Also, on further inspection, it appears that it is too tall (one inch) and has been pushing the air cleaner lid into the hood!

Does anyone know what a correct, factory carb spacer for a 67 with a 390 should look like? I have seen:

1/4 " thick phenolic

1" thick cast aluminum

1" thick cast aluminum with water ports (for heater hose run)

I am thinking because of the air-cleaner issue, the 1/4" phenolic may be right.

If any one has a low-mileage never torn apart car that could tell me what's right, I'd really appreciate it!

I have an unmolested '67 w/ a 428, w/ 14000 orig miles and I will look tomorrow at my carburetor and will report what's there ... Gemman

Carb Spacer

Thank you - I finally got a gently used phenolic (brown plastic) spacer on Ebay. It is about 1/4 inch thick and had one vacuum port at the back.

I would love to know what you have on yours!

It is the same as u describe .. a 1/4" Carbolic ( phenolic ) spacer ... hope this helps .. if u have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask ... I know that this car is correct and from the factory original .. why even the vacuum hoses are color stripe coded so any repair or replacement, they could trace from point A to B, by following the color stripe on that particular hose ...
