The rubber moveable steering column stops (bumpers) on the 64-66 Thunderbird cannot be found except for old ones that can't be removed from the threaded bolt lest they break. One of mine broke when cleaning the slider mechanism, one didn't, it was still a bit pliable. So, after searching for a new replacement unsuccessfully, I did something I'd been considering for years; make my own soft parts. I obtained some platinum cure silicone and impact resistant liquid urethane from a Smooth-On distributor, made two molds of my good bumper out of silicone, and then made two new black urethane bumpers. I might make more if there is a damand for them. I'll install them today and keep my old one for a model.

That is fantastic! Great that you came up with an approach to recreate. Better yet you executed the approach and created useable parts!

I hope the turn out great. Maybe you can get some takers on the bumpers and help decrease your costs.
