We're planning a loong trip to a reunion in August driving from Arkansas to North Carolina on I-40. Would like to improve the cooling system Before the trip. Car has original dealer add-on under dash A/C that works fine. I've noticed temp rising during warm day parades and hot day idling. Any suggestions about after market improvements for the cooling? I have noticed some 'improved water pumps' at on-line part houses and wondering if that's theway to go.

There are a number of things that have come out in the last few years or that aid in better cooling. One is the improved water pump that CASCO sells, the improved spacer and a wide mouth thermostat. All have come with good ratings.

I never had a overheating problem, but have installed the last two. Some difference .

To be honest, if this site is your only source for getting info on Tbirds I would suggest going to

Vintage Thunderbird Club International

or https://forums.fordthunderbirdforum.com/

as there are very few responders in this site, especially for early Birds. I only check in about every couple of weeks because there is so little going on here.

Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't used CASCO in quite a few years. Forgot about them. Still a member. I'll check the spacer, pump and wide mouth.
