This thing is driving me crazy! I've disassembled everything and still can't remove the column. Are there any secret tips I'm missing. According to the manual you have to remove the retaining spring pin and the cotter pin. Can anyone clarify the retaining spring pin. I must be missing something because this thing just won't give. Please Please help me out on this one.

You may be referring to step 1. The pivot bracket clamp and the steering shaft retaining spring pin are located in the engine compartment above the gearbox. Have you removed the nuts from the friction adjustment bolts (shown in Fig. 9) and removed the lower track bracket? My thought is that you can then lift the column and pull it up and out. Let me know how that works..

Harely,
Thanks for your reply. I had to avoid the column today just to keep my sanity. I have followed all of the steps indicated in the manual. The column is now laying on the floor but it just won't disengege from the steering box. I'll have another go at it tomorrow and get back to you. Again thanks for your advice.
