    Which carburator?

Having done both, new Holley and re-built Autolite, I'd recommend getting the original re-built. Most recommendations I've read lean that way also...

    63 Bulletbird disc brakes

Disk Brake Conversion Resources Here are a couple of options to switch the front to disks: Disc Brake Conversion (Thunderbird Ranch) https://scarebird.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=65&page=2

    anybody know bout' headers?

I installed a set of the ceramic-coated headers sold by Thunderbird Headquarters. As mentioned above, the shock towers definitely come into play, particularly on the passenger side. No issues to date with the power steering.

    62 Wiper Problem

Hey, I checked the 62 shop manual and I have to agree with you about there being almost no mention of the wipers. The supplement for 63 at least describes the power steering-driven wipers. The only reference I saw at all was about the fuse for the wiper motors. Good luck!

    62 Wiper Problem

If they are like the '63, they are powered by the power steering pump and fluid. I don't have the book with me to check, but might look under the power steering section in the shop manual to have a better understanding of the system...if they operate the same way. Cheers, Walt

    Heater Core Lesson Learned

Hi everyone. I just wanted to pass along a frustrating lesson I just learned. For those of you who haven't accomplished this task, the heater core for a '63 (and probably earlier models) has one welded tube for the input and a slot where the return mechanism, with the control valve, mounts to...

    Hoses on Heater/AC fan

They are probably missing on most of the birds out on the road. The purpose of the hoses is to pull cooling air to the fan motor from inside the cabin instead of the engine compartment to prevent moisture and contaminants from damaging the fan.

    Hoses on Heater/AC fan

There are hoses that should be connected to the fan motor as you described. I was able to get replacements from Pat Wilson's in NJ.

New 66 owner from the UK

Hi Howard. Welcome to the group! It's a shame you'll have to alter the taillights for being one year too new. I'm sure Jeremy Clarkson or James May would have some ideas to help your progress! Cheers, Walt.

    starting up after winter storage

I don't think you'd cause any damage by just trying to start it and see what happens. If you can't get it to crank, then start pulling parts off and cleaning them. The fuel stabilizer should give you a fighting chance!

    64 convertible hose schematic

Hi Chuck. I don't have a schematic or anything, but I could provide photos of the set-up from my convertible. I know it's been a while since you posted this, so you've probably figured something out. Just let me know what might be helpful. Walt

    New Guy

Hi Jason, welcome to the forum. I too have loved this block of T-birds since I was a kid. I'm in Las Vegas and my 64 convertible used to be a CA car. If you live in Vegas, send me a private message and we can try to get together to compare notes. This has been my first experience with a...

    power steering pump

Hi Ken. The only differences I'm aware of were whether or not the car had A/C. If not, the reservoir is on the unit and if so, it's mounted on the fender.

    66 suspension

I did a fairly complete suspension re-work on my '64. I changed the leaf springs in the back, replaced all the bushings, and installed the beefier anti-sway bar in the front. I did not replace or modify the front springs. I installed the Bilstein shocks, from Thunderbird Headquarters, on the...

    Engine Mount Shims?

I don't have any pictures of the shims to share with the group, but it was an unscientific undertaking. I'm a big fan of using what I have available when certain challenges arise. With the truck tire I used to transport the engine back from the builder sitting beside the house, I cut...

    Engine Mount Shims?

Lowering the engine onto the headers might be the way to go. Now that my engine has been installed and broken-in, everything seems to have worked itself out. The only issue I found with the engine spacers is the length of the studs on the motor mount and making sure you can get enough turns on...

    1964 power windows

Relay Access Can't completely solve your problem, but to access that relay on the passenger side fire wall, you should consider removing the rear splash guard on that side. There are about seven assorted screws and bolts holding it in place, but if you pull the wheel and remove that panel, you...

    Engine Mount Shims?

Although I didn't specifically say in the original post, shims on both mounts was intended. Since the transmission body mount will provide the slight pivot needed, my thought was that if the u-joints can still rotate the drive shaft freely with a visual inspection with the rear lifted, they can...

    Engine Mount Shims?

Engine Pics Hopefully I've attached the pictures correctly... For the disclaimer, I haven't got this thing cranked yet, so I'm certainly not claiming victory until that happens! For those who might save some time and effort from what I've learned so far, here are a couple points I've collected...

    Cruise Control/ speed regulator?

Hi Brian, Group 16 of the '64 T-Bird shop manual has a good general description of system operations and details all the components. My understanding is the system was never all that great/reliable since it was such an early attempt at a cruise control.
