Joe, The ameter stays toward center and fluctuates wildly when the lights are on.

When I purchased my 65, all gages were not working and all registered to the left (gas,oil pressure,temp.,voltage). I replaced the instrument constant voltage regulator that is mounted behind the speedometer housing. Now all the gages go to the right. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Got it. I thought you were refering to black smoke out the tailpipe in an earlier reply. Just thought I would make sure we were on the same page. Thanks for the input. I plan on getting the engine checked out soon.

Thanks for the answers on the lights and heater problems. The engine in my 65 is Blue (air cleaner, valve covers, etc.). According to the specs. I saw on another sight they should be gold. Does this mean the motor is not original? How can I check the block numbers?

I just bought a 65 for my wife. There are some minor problems with the car. The lights flicker when driving and there is a lot a heat coming from under the dash no matter how the controls are adjusted. This was an ac car, but now has no ac. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it.
