    WTB: CORRECT 64 T-Bird Tranny

My grandfather is looking for a CORRECT transmission for his '64 Thunderbird that he's restoring. Apparently, someone swapped over to an incorrect one before he bought it years ago. I believe he said it is called a C6 "Select-O-Matic" tranny. It is an all cast-iron tranny. He is preferably...

    Bad steering problem

That sounds wierd. I'm no expert on this kind of thing, but it seems like the pump, the lines to the rack, or the rack itself may be clogged somewhere, pushing fluid one way and not the other, causing it to spin one way. In otherwords, there's no fluid going the other way to compensate for the...

    Dash lights

I believe you have to take the guage cluster out to get to the lights behind the dash. Rick

    front end vibration

Just taking a wild guess, but are you sure one of the A-frames aren't bent? What about the frame? Couldn't the frame cause that, too? Rick

'87 Bird dumping oil into air filter

The oil in your air filter means you have engine blow-by. In otherwords, your rings are more than likely bad, and the engine may need a rebuild. I don't know for sure if it would help or not, but try a new PCV valve. It's cheap, and it couldn't hurt anything. Rick

    throttle body

The Turbo Coupes did not have different throttle bodies. They were all the same on the turbo cars. Alot of people have been using the SC throttle bodies. I THINK they bolt right up, but you'll probably want to check it out to make sure. Rick

Removing plastic glasses holder in 89 T-Bird

Just use a screwdriver on one of the sides and pry it out. That's all I did. Rick

Tapping sound on a 93 TBird

It's hard to tell without listening to the car in person, but my (uneducated) guess would possibly be a clogged and/or slightly bent pushrod, or maybe a bad lifter. Just guessing. Like I said, it's hard to tell without hearing it first-hand. Rick

    Aerobird

Because, in 1983 Ford redesigned the body using the same Fox platform as the '80-'82 T-Birds, making them more aerodynamic. In 1989 they switched the a bigger T-Bird, on the MN-12 platform. Rick

1979 T-bird just wont charge battery

I've always had around 11.5-12.5 volts across the batteries in all of my cars. At the alternator is where you're supposed to have around 14.x volts. What kind of actual problems are you having? (i.e.: won't start, won't crank, battery goes dead overnight, etc...) Rick
