Thanks so much Paul! I can sort this out today! It looks like the parts are all there, though the rubber bushes are destroyed, and I can fab those. There is even an extra part in there!

Horn ring parts diagram?
Perhaps someone can just take a photo of the steering wheel horn ring parts drawing and send it to me? The wheel is apart, and I would like to get back on the road; it is almost a daily driver for me.
And for future reference, who has the book for sale?
Thanks, Rick...
Can you refer me to a parts diagram link? I had one, but cannot find it. Specifically a drawing for the 1955 horn ring. Pieces are missing and bodges abound.
Thanks, Rick
Perfectly practical advice, although lazy me was thinking someone might say 'The seats off a 1974 Yardley-Pew Apache fit perfectly and look great!' I will do exactly as you suggest. And yes, the original seat will go into safe storage for any future owner. I am only doing this for my own...
Does anyone have any suggestions for bucket seats that would look appropriate in a 1955? My car is nearly bone stock, but the bench seat is completed broken down, and I thought if I could find two buckets that look right I could upholster them to more or less match the bench. Then it would...
Where is the brake light fuse?
My brake lights and turn signals stopped working, I think at the same time. There is no fuse to the flasher (at least not in the normal place. the wires go straight into the harness) and I cannot find the brake light fuse.
Thanks,
Rick
Unfortunately my Casco-sourced '56 harness does not have that fuse. I think I will just run a little wire over from the clock, WITH a fuse.
Thank you very much,
Rick
are you expected to hold the lighter in until it heats? Or should it retain it to heat, and then pop out when hot? Silly question since I don't smoke, but I would like to plug in an adapter for a phone charger.
thanks,
rick
Where is the fuse or breaker that is upstream from the flasher? There is no power to the flasher, but everything else seems to work.
The flasher works when I hot wire it. Car is a 1955, stock except '56 harness and 12v.]
thanks! Rick
I was told this by a knowledgable old mechanic:
"4 wheel live piston disc brakes was an exotic option on some early t birds and retro fitted by rodders onto other cars."
Ever heard of this?
Rick
Don't despair on electrical problems. These systems are so simple that you can troubleshoot and fix one item at a time, and it will be reliable. That's one of the good things about older cars: They can be fixed by humans. :)
Where do I get a trailer hitch? I have seen two, and a picture of a third. My '55 Bird is my only car, and I need sometimes need to carry something larger than my trunk will hold. Thanks, Rick
I recently began measuring my mileage, which is a consistent 10.4 mpg, which seems a little low. My '55 is all stock, engine, carb, tires, etc. Otherwise it runs great. What mpg do you get?
Thanks all, Rick
