    Ignition Switch Issue

It wouldn't surprise me in the least if the extra ear is redundant. Ford probably changed the switch several times over several years, and parts manufacturers like to make only one type to satisfy most or all of the variations. Just use your VOM to map out the switch functions, do the same for...

    Ignition Switch Issue

Look at your wiring diagram. The 5th connector is probably redundant: see my earlier post for connection C. Use a VOM to verify.

    Fussy hot start

I went with the FAT EZ EFI 1.0 since it had the best warranty. My old carburetor was being eaten away by the E10 gas available here. As far as performance, it's hard to quantify any power gain since I did a lot of other engine mods before I started having problems with the carb. Cold starting is...

    Ignition Switch Issue

Some generic switches have an extra connection that coincides with replacements for later years. My '64 wiring diagram shows 4 connections: A Center bolted connector black-green stripe from the fuse panel circuit breaker (12 volts) B Yellow fused 12 volts C is a 2-wire connection. Green-red...

    Fussy hot start

I converted mine to a throttle body EFI and it still likes a rich fuel mixture to restart at the condition that you describe. So I believe this to be inherent with this engine to at least some extent. The backfiring indicates a timing issue. Consider advancing your initial ignition timing from...

COM takes a while to warm up

The transmission was running fine when I rebuilt it, just leaking at the front seal that turned out to be a badly worn front bushing. It was perfectly clean inside with nice red color to the fluid. I didn't disassemble any of the major components like he did, just the clutch packs. Since the...

    rattle insteering column

It sounds like the rubber bushing that cushions the shift lever on the outer collar is worn. Also, if the lever is sloppy when shifting, the lower end is probably worn as well. The entire lever is relatively soft aluminum and acts on the hard steel detent cam to position it at P-N-D-D2-R...

    Chrome Bucket seat trim

Anodized aluminum can't be sanded/ polished like the stainless trim on the lower part of the console or exterior window trim, so be careful. I've found that a good cleaning with diet Coke and a blue scotch-brite pad, followed by a detergent wash then rinse, makes most of these look a lot...

COM takes a while to warm up

It seems to be shifting a lot better now. Warm-up is about two miles, and after warm-up shifts are predictable and firm. The filter should do a good job protecting everything from debris and clean up any small particles that are still inside.

COM takes a while to warm up

I installed a remote filter and converted the OE filter to a pickup by removing the fine screen. I found a nice spot on the left, symmetrical with the engine oil filter about the oil pan.

COM takes a while to warm up

Well, my theory of a clogged filter screen does not appear to be correct. I removed the pan and drained all the fluid out of the case and torque converter. It's more brown than red after about 1500 miles. There was a thin layer of black on the base of the pan and inside the filter. The filter...

COM takes a while to warm up

The issue got worse over the weekend after I paid a visit to my neighbor who lives on a long, steep gravel road. The transmission clutches got a workout, and apparently shed more fiber onto the OEM filter. Warm-up the next day was well over 4 miles. I've decided to drop the pan again, convert...

Those seats are from a '64.

COM takes a while to warm up

I rebuilt the tranny myself about three years ago using an aftermarket kit. The clutches are made of some type of fiber. The car sat for a long time waiting for the engine builder and body man. I originally filled the fresh unit with Valvoline Type F. During the break-in process I had several...
