Anti-theft Alarm Question
Recently my 1997 LX has started acting funny. The manuals says the anti-theft system is supposed to work as follows. With a door open, the "THEFT" light on the dash should blink. When you shut the door and lock the car, it should stay on continuously for 30 seconds. At the end of the 30 seconds, the light is supposed to go out and the system is now armed. Mine works exactly as described, except the anti-theft system goes off at the end of the 30 seconds. Due to this, I have to leave my car unlocked everywhere I go or my alarm goes off 30 seconds after I leave the car. Has anybody else seen this before? Does anybody have any idea how to fix it? I called my local Ford dealer and he didn't have a clue. If anybody can help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

I have heard of a similar problem before but it was because the car battery voltage took a sudden drop. The problem was corrected by replacing the car battery and battery terminals. I'm not saying this is what is wrong with yours. I'm just giving sugestions.
